COVID-19 Update

Friday 15th May 2020, St Marys, NSW

St Marys Village Centre Management would like to thank our customers for their continued support. At St Marys Village the health and safety of our customers, retailers, staff and the greater community are our main priority. Our Management team continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and adhere to the advice of the Australian Government Department of Health. Following current government direction, we are starting to see many of our stores re-open for trade. Please check our store directory below for individual store contact information. Protecting Our Community In our ongoing effort to protect our community, St Marys Village continues to implement the following 10 key actions as part of our COVID SAFE Plan:

  1. Alcohol – based hand sanitiser dispensers are installed throughout St Marys Village as part of our ‘Healthy Hands’ Program in encouraging regular hand hygiene while visiting our Centre. The hand sanitiser dispensers are readily accessible to the public and regularly refilled with alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  2. Increased frequent cleaning and disinfecting (using hospital-grade disinfectant) of all touch-point hard surfaces such as hand rails, common area seating, ATM machines, door handles, toilet door handles and other key hygiene measures (waste disposal), in addition to the daily cleaning regime at our Centre.
  3. Facilitating and encouraging social distancing guidelines in accordance with Government or public health authority directions, which is currently 1.5 metres social distance at all times through social distancing guideline signage ‘reminders’ throughout the Centre, one-way queuing in stores and ground marking using tape and sticker to direct customer traffic flow and ensure a 1.5 metre social distance is maintained.
  4. Ensuring public gathering limits in accordance with Government direction are adhered to, which is currently no more than 1 person per 4 square metres in stores (inclusive of staff), can be maintained through regulating store and Centre access points, monitoring customer counts and maximum capacity restrictions in stores, displaying maximum capacity and social distancing guidelines reminder signage.
  5. Promoting contactless transactions such as ‘tap and go’ via EFTPOS machine instead of cash payments, facilitating distancing at counters and benches, and staff wearing disposable gloves and regularly sanitising their hands when they are handling objects and money.
  6. Monitoring and encouraging customer adherence to relevant public guidelines by security guards and other personnel, which may also include Police visits to St Marys Village.
  7. Continuing to focus on the local community’s access to essential services such as supermarkets, pharmacies and health and medical facilities, especially for vulnerable people within the community.
  8. Daily check-ins with employees on their well-being, ensuring employees and contractors are properly trained and have access to relevant information and personal protective equipment (PPE) including face masks, disposable gloves and alcohol- based hand sanitiser. These check –ins include monitoring customer behaviour to ensure retail workers are being treated with respect. Customer behaviour is continuously monitored and regulated through our highly-trained and experienced 24-hour security team.
  9. Fostering open communication between retailers and Centre Management including alerting all parties to any Government or public health authority directive, to assist authorities when required, and continue to release information and guidance to employees and customers about good hygiene advice.
  10. Maintaining relevant essential safety measures such as air –handling systems, exit doors, emergency power supply, smoke alarms, sprinkler systems and fire – isolated stairs.

To protect yourself and those around you, we ask every member of our community to adhere to the social distancing guidelines in maintaining a 1.5 metre social distance from others when visiting St Marys Village. This includes avoiding crowded areas and maintaining a 1.5 metre distance between yourself and others when queuing or moving through the Centre. We encourage you to please use the hand sanitiser stations available throughout St Marys Village, practice good personal hygiene and regularly wash your hands when visiting our Centre. Retailer Update We continue to work in close collaboration with our retailers to ensure that we are all doing our part to keep our shared retail environment clean and safe by:

  • From Friday 15th May 2020 cafes and restaurants can seat a maximum of 10 patrons at any one time, providing the 4 square metre rule is adhered to) . When dining in with our retailers please follow their instructions and maintain a 1.5 metre social distance from others. Please note the current legislation does not apply to Food Court seating and as such seating in the Food Court will remain unavailable until further notice.
  • Limiting the number of customers inside each store at any one time. Our retailers are displaying maximum capacity signs to communicate the maximum number of people allowed in the store at any one time. Please take notice of these signs before entering a store.
  • Individual retailers are taking precautions in providing hand sanitiser at their counters, encouraging 'tap and go' EFTPOS payments and safety screens have now been installed at retailers including Woolworths Supermarket to minimise contact.
  • Our Management Team and Security team are constantly monitoring and reminding customers (as required) about social distancing requirements.
  • Nail salons & massage therapists remain closed and will reopen as part of Stage 2 (when directed by the Government).
